Thirty Seconds of Power

Nov 29, 2012 | INSIGHTS

I will sing each morning about Your power and mercy, for You have been my high tower of refuge, a place of safety in the day of my distress  . . . I am the First and the Last, the living One who died, who is now alive for evermore. (Ps. 59:16) Rev. 1:17)

At the start of Revelation chapter four, John is invited to come up higher through a door that stood open into Heaven. I saw somewhere recently the splendid recommendation that we should use this as a model and get into the regular practise of looking up to the throne of God — let’s say for thirty seconds or so — before plunging on with our daily pursuits.

It’s amazing how much God can accomplish in those thirty seconds. Why not make it a goal to consciously practise doing that this week?
