Recognising that our daily work is to be lived as a vocation for the Lord, rather than seeing it just as a career, we can see that every time we meet together with our fellow Christians we share matters that are ‘prayer’ worthy. May we get more and more into the habit of lifting these to our Father in prayer – for this is what takes us beyond information-sharing and ‘chit-chat’ fellowship into times of become encounters with the Lord Himself, and to be living out Paul’s exhortation to ‘pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.’ (Eph. 6:18)
In such ways, we reach a point where we are able to pray about international matters with as much passion and compassion as we do for matters close to home and heart. May we be as imaginative and as comprehensive as we can be in the range of subjects we pray about – and practise integrating music, worship, teaching and prayer in our times of fellowship together, rather than seeing them as separate and ‘self-contained’ items.
So much is going on in our world in these days it can be hard to know quite what to pray, and how to intercede effectively.
