Appointments with God: For the World in Crisis

Jun 4, 2026 | READ

We hoped for peace but no good has come, for a time of healing but there was only terror.
Jeremiah 8:15

When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places and famines. These are the beginnings of the birth pains.
Mark 13:7-8.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way, and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea.
Psalm 46:2

Thank you for calling us to pray for Your world, Lord Jesus.
Show it to us as You see it.
Help us to watch alertly, and to pray as You guide us.

Teach us how to think and pray about the flood of news we hear.
Keep us faithful in prayer to the burdens You share with us,
and give us grace and power to follow the leadings that You reveal.

Which of the stories in the news today should we be praying for now,
and the situations we should be asking You to bless?
. . . and . . . and . . .

What is there that is not in the news but which we should be praying for?
And the new ventures we should be asking You to bring into being?
. . . and . . . and . . .

Be with all Christian leaders, prophets and ministers
who are seeking to bring Your word to the rulers of this world.
Grant them the gift of rich wisdom and inspired communication.

Uphold all Christians who are themselves in positions of authority.
Make Your way known to them and prosper them, we pray.

Remember, Lord, the poor;
the refugees, the victims of war, famine, and disaster:
the casualties of our sinful world.

In the name of Jesus who died to save the world. Amen
