A precious prayer we can take deep into our hearts

O Lord, Day Star and soul-inspirer,
with what love You have made us in Your image,
redeemed us through Your Son,
and placed within us
the same Spirit of power and prayer
that You placed in Him.

It is too much to comprehend:
we can only receive with gratitude
the flow of goodness
and the showers of blessings that You direct our way.

May we keep watch with You at all times throughout the day,
lifting to You the people and the situations You bring to mind,
and especially those most dear to us.

Grant us fresh courage to love and serve You, Lord Jesus,
for You have called us to be compassionate even as Your Father is,
and to follow Your example,
taking care not to lord it over people

Purify our hearts.
May they be a welcoming worthy place for You to dwell in.
May we never fail to make room for You,
so that You may abide in us and we in You at all times.

You have drawn and fetched us to Yourself for this,
and made us heirs and partners in all good heavenly things.

King of Kings and Lord of Lords,
Evening Star,
may we be found neither asleep nor indifferent
when You appear,
but daily joyful in Your praise,
active in Your service,
and pressing always in through prayer
concerning matters near to home as well as far away,
so that others may be blessed and built up
by our seeking of Your face.
